Proper air filtration is critical to the performance and reliability of gas turbines. Staged coarse, fine and HEPA filtration lets turbine systems operate at peak performance with less maintenance and fewer shutdowns.

Proper air filtration is critical to the overall performance and reliability of gas turbines. With suitable fine and HEPA filters, operators experience less maintenance cost and fewer shutdowns; high-airflow rigid bag and HEPA filters are designed for the requirements of the energy industry.
A three-stage air purification system is commonly implemented at gas turbine and coal power plants:
- First stage (coarse filtration): panel filters, cassette filters, pocket coarse filters (G3, G4).
- Second stage (fine filtration): pocket fine filters (F5 and above), compact V-filters.
- Third stage: high-performance compact filters of class F8-F9, and in some cases E10-E12; the air is purified up to 98%.
At nuclear power plants and nuclear industry enterprises, preventing the release of radioactive contamination into the air is a main safety factor. Activated carbon cartridges are designed for installation in adsorbers that clean air and other gases from iodine and its compounds.
